Itinerary
We will meet at the South Exit of Shinjuku Station, in front of the “Midori no Madoguchi” (Green Window). We will be holding a sign that says “Japan Trails” so please look out for it.
We’ll take you to a local izakaya loved by people in the Shinjuku area.
After enjoying the izakaya, we’ll head to a more hidden, local-style bar in Shinjuku.
You can enjoy sake and a wide variety of other drinks in a relaxed and unique atmosphere.
You’re welcome to stay at the second bar or move on to another spot if you’d like.
Just keep in mind that the last train from Shinjuku is at around 12:40 AM, so be careful not to miss it.
Things to Know
- This is a shared group experience.
- Shinjuku Station is known as one of the largest and most complex stations in the world. With numerous train lines and exits, it can be difficult to navigate. Please allow yourself plenty of time to find the meeting point.
- The tour will begin exactly at the scheduled start time. Please be sure to arrive on time, as we will not be able to wait for late arrivals.
- For the comfort and safety of everyone, we kindly ask that guests who are visibly intoxicated do not join the tour.
- This tour is designed specifically for international visitors. We appreciate your understanding that Japanese nationals are not eligible to participate.
- Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, as the tour involves a fair amount of walking.
- Depending on the pace and group dynamic, the tour may end slightly later than planned. If you have other commitments after the tour, please let us know in advance.
- In case of cancellation due to low attendance, we will notify you at least seven days prior to the tour date and issue a full refund.
Food
- We are unable to accommodate dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, halal, gluten-free, or food allergies. Thank you for your understanding.
- If you have any food allergies, please let us know in advance.
- At the izakaya, the menu will mainly feature seafood dishes, including sashimi. If you are not comfortable with eating fish, please inform us at the time of booking.
- The legal drinking age in Japan is 20. For guests under the age of 20, non-alcoholic beverages will be provided.
Pricing & Payment
- Full payment is required at the time of booking.
- Children aged 4 to 12 are eligible for a discounted rate of 70% of the adult price.
- Children under the age of 3 may join for free; however, food and drinks for them are not included.
Cancellation policy
- A 50% cancellation fee will be charged for cancellations made one day before the event or later.
- If you cancel on the day of the event, a 100% cancellation fee will apply.
No-shows will also be charged the full amount. - If you are not satisfied with our tour after participation, we will provide a full refund.(within 3 days after the tour)

- How much should I budget for drinks beyond what’s included?

The tour covers all drinks at the izakaya and one at the second bar. If you’d like more afterward, budget around ¥500–1,000 per drink.
- Is Shinjuku safe at night?

Yes. Shinjuku is very safe, even late at night. Your guide will be with you throughout the tour.
- How much Japanese do I need to speak?

None at all. Your guide speaks English and will handle all communication with bar staff throughout the night. Just relax and enjoy the experience.

What You’ll Eat & Drink
At the izakaya, expect 5+ dishes — yakitori, edamame, karaage, and seasonal specials — paired with all-you-can-drink beer, sake, shochu, and soft drinks for 90 minutes. At the second bar, we’ll have one drink in an intimate local setting.

I was traveling solo and almost skipped this tour. Best decision I ever made. Our guide knew every bartender by name and took us to places I never would have found alone. The izakaya food was incredible and the second bar felt like a secret club. Came as a stranger, left with new friends.

Shinjuku at night is overwhelming when you are on your own. With a local guide it becomes a completely different experience. We visited two totally different spots, a lively izakaya and a tiny hidden bar, and both were unforgettable. The stories about local drinking culture made the whole night so much richer.
